Hiring a mobile welding prowhat to ask and when to book

A mobile welder brings the machine to the job, which matters for equipment that cannot be moved: trailers, gates, railings, farm implements, truck frames. Ask what processes the welder runs (stick, MIG, TIG) and whether they work aluminum or stainless, since not every rig does.

Most charge a trip fee plus an hourly rate with a minimum.

For anything structural, ask whether the welder is certified and whether the work needs an inspection.

Questions worth asking

Every mobile welding listing on this directory shows the owner's answer to one trade question when they have given it: On-site, or shop only? Along with free estimates and after-hours availability, that answer is labeled "owner reported" with the date we asked.
